October 10, 1946 - To whom it may concern, be it known that by orders of The Grand Master, The Honorable Clyde E. Moss, Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Ordered Hiram Abiff Lodge No.72, Prince Hall Free and. Accepted Masons of Canton, Ohio, to proceed to Uhrichsville, Ohio and set up a U D. Lodge of Master Masons. The Officers of Hiram Abiff Lodge were composed of the following Officers: Wor. Bro. George H. Webster, Master; Bro. Guy R. Taylor, S.W; Bro. Herbert Lake, JW; Bro. Cleo Newman, S.D.; Bro. P.C. Garner. Ass. Secretary; Bro. Scarbrough, Treasurer. The Song used to open the lodge was "Bless Be The Tie that Binds" A Lodge of Master Masons was called to order in Due and Ancient form by Hiram Abiff Lodge No. 72 – After which, the gavel was turned over to the Honorable Clyde B. Moss, who called off the lodge of Master Masons and called on the lodge of Entered Apprentice for the purpose of Initiation of the candidates in waiting. The only names we can find are the following. Mr. Major Huston, Mr. T. J. Hutcherson, Mr. Clark Haseirigand, Mr. Perry Henderson. We find no record in the Grand Lodge Proceedings of 1946, 1947 or 1948, but in the Grand. Lodge Proceedings of 1949 we find the only roster of members of J. B. Easley Lodge No. 111, and they are as follows, WM Major Huston, SW John Truman, JW Ambrose Hurry, Treasurer Clark Haselrig, Secretary Perry Henderson, Senior Deacon Oscar Johnson, Junior Deacon James Barnett, Senior Steward Thomas Hutson, Junior Steward William Smith, Chaplain Lewis Walker, Tyler Warren White, Marshal Tracy Jordan and Members: Walter Slaughter, Warren Allen George Densley, Sherman Jones PM, T. Weaver PM, Thomas Jones, Harry Johnson, Stewart Jackson, Flemmins Bardberry, Edward Lowery, Theodore Sutten, Roscoe Avery, Charles Mills, Rubes Eberhardt, George Joseph, Carl Richardson, Daniel Malone, Joseph Daniels, James Alexander, Edmond Finley, William Chapman, Patrick H. Fulp, Jerry Jones, Theodore A. West, Caleb Scott, William Mills. After initiation of these Brothers the Lodge was called from the E.A. Degree. The Grand Master then called of the Lodge of M.M. and called on the Lodge of Fellow Craft for initiation. At some later date the candidates made proficiency in the F.C. Degree. The M. W. Grand Master Clyde E. Moss ordered the raising to take place in Hiram Abiff Lodge in Canton, OH on November 17th of 1946. The officers of Hiram Abiff Lodge No. 72 secured the third floor at 123 E. Tuscarwas St. over the old Rogers Jewelry Store, where 19 FCs were raised to the sublimed degree of Master Masons by the Degree Team of Excelsior Lodge No. 11 of Cleveland, Ohio. New Dawn Chapter No. 80 OES served a full course turkey dinner for $1.75 per person. It is well to note that Sherman Jones was drafted to serve as WM of J.B. Easley Lodge No. 111, for the year of 1946 until the Lodge received their first Charter in 1947. PM Jones was from Mystic Lodge No. 20 of Cadiz, Ohio and afterwards became a member of J. B.
